Meet Your Teacher: Jeff Rockwell

Get to Know Me

Hi, I’m Jeff! The guitar has been a defining part of my life for nearly as long as I can remember. It has taken me on incredible journeys, allowing me to perform across the US, Eastern and Western Europe, and even a small part of Asia.

For over 20 years, my primary focus has been teaching guitar. While there are countless resources—books, CDs, DVDs, websites—they can’t replace the value of a dedicated, caring teacher. Real growth happens when you regularly work with someone who guides, encourages, and challenges you. That’s the heart of my teaching philosophy.

My Teaching Method

Teaching isn’t just something I do—it’s my passion and my primary focus. Unlike many teachers who balance instruction with performing, my dedication lies entirely in helping you become a better guitarist.

Learning Through Songs:

I teach the guitar by focusing on the music you love. Together, we’ll learn the songs you’re passionate about, making the process engaging and rewarding. Music theory will naturally find its place in our lessons, but only when you’re ready and curious to dive deeper.

Personalized Attention:

I believe in meeting you where you are—both in terms of your skill level and even your location. If you prefer, I’ll come to you for lessons, a rare service that many students appreciate.

Celebrating Progress:

There’s nothing I enjoy more than watching my students overcome challenges and achieve what once felt impossible. It’s a privilege I get to witness regularly, and it’s what inspires me to continue teaching.

Learning guitar is a journey, and I’m here to make it enjoyable, rewarding, and tailored to your goals. Let’s make music together!

What Students Say

“Jeff is an amazing teacher. He is always so kind and patient! When I first started with Jeff around three years ago, I was a complete beginner and with his help and encouragement, I am now playing on my church’s worship team! Jeff also lets you pick your own songs, which is great! I couldn’t recommend him enough.”
-Giada

-Sheila G.

“I had three lessons prior to Jeff and didn’t know anything or how to play. After two lessons with Jeff, I am working through my first song! Its easy to grasp via the way he teaches! Would highly recommend!”
-Moira

“I was playing my first song in the very first session. Lessons are interesting and challenging and Jeff is supportive and patient. I never feel like he is frustrated with me if I make a mistake or don’t get something right away. I have been working with him 8 months now and have many more songs under my belt. I learn something new in every lesson.”
